Phone Recycling Program at My High School

In an effort to help protect the environment, I am going to donate my old phone to the phone recycling program at my high school. Even though most companies ask users to donate their old mobile phones or recycle them, there are lots of people who don’t do so. When people throw out old phones, these phones usually end up in a landfill. Over time, the phones leak and begin to decompose. This leads to soil pollution. I learned this in my environmental science class and was shocked to learn that small electronics can take many years to decompose. I don’t want my old phone to end up in a landfill so donating it makes the most sense. I plan to buy a new phone when I have the money, but for now, I plan to go without. I am telling all of my friends and family about the program to encourage them to donate their old phones as well. It really is the least we can do to protect the environment and reuse or recycle materials.
